Immersion Imagery is an Australian film production company founded in 2005 by cinematographer and filmmaker Richard Jones.
We make character-driven films about ordinary people at turning points — a mother learning how to grieve, a woman pushed to the edge by the housing crisis, a decommissioned robot deciding whether to keep her memory of love. The stories are small in scale and large in feeling, and we shoot them like they matter.
Richard came up behind the camera, and it shows in how the company works. Every project is built image-first: the same attention to light, composition and performance goes into a ten-minute short as into a feature in development. Over twenty years that approach has carried his work to audiences through the BBC, National Geographic and Encyclopaedia Britannica, and earned Best Cinematography at the International Short Cinema Festival in 2024.
We keep the slate deliberately small — a handful of projects at a time, each one seen through from first draft to final grade.

Richard Jones
Founder · Cinematographer & Director
Richard has spent more than twenty years behind the camera, shooting feature films, documentaries, music videos and short films. He founded Immersion Imagery in 2005.
His cinematography has reached audiences through the BBC, National Geographic and Encyclopaedia Britannica, and in 2024 he won Best Cinematography at the International Short Cinema Festival for the short film Frances. Alongside shooting, he produces across the company's slate and directs selected projects — most recently the VR short Echo, which he also animated.
Sharon Lewis
Producer · Writer & Director
Sharon is a filmmaker and storyteller with two decades of experience spanning indie shorts, feature films, music videos, TVCs and live events. She writes and directs much of what she produces, with recent work focused on the pressures facing women and on Australia's housing crisis.
She is Vice Chair of Screen Illawarra and has spent over twenty years as a screen and media trainer, mentoring filmmakers coming up in the region.
